Sam Nichols

Senior Veterinary Receptionist

Experience
I started nursing in 1997 after a spell of work experience at the practice while studying for my BTec National Diploma in Animal Care. I went straight into vet nurse training after starting here and qualified in 1999, after attending Writtle College and completing a structured work-based nursing programme at the practice for 2 years.

Interests
I have enjoyed all areas of nursing in our practice but always had a special interest in diagnostic imaging. I was promoted to Deputy Head Nurse in 2000, a role which I held for 7 years. During this time I supported many of the student vet nurses with their training as well as managing the nursing staff on a daily basis. Since 2008 I have been working part-time in an administrative role, moving back to reception in 2022.  I continue to deal with account queries, insurance claims and really enjoy working on reception.

Activities
Any free time I have is spent with 2 boys and our rescue dog 'Duggee'.  I can also be round running and playing netball!
