Teddy lives with two older cats and as a young lad, keeping this boy occupied and happy is the way forward for each of them. All three cats are indoor cats, so the next things on the agenda is to have a free-access catio so Teddy in particular can go outdoors. His owner already has a good number of the same resources to allow all three cats easy access to whatever they need, and where needed private (!) access.
International Cat Care (icatcare) guidance advises 1 resource for each cat + 1. Food and separately placed water bowls, sleeping areas, resting areas and importantly litter trays - follow the same advise 1 per cat + 1. Litter trays need to be in different places and not all lined up together - for a cat this is one loo!
Regardless of the species and breed of pet you are hoping to give your home too, we ALWAYS advise you do your research. Main Coon's are large powerful muscular and athletic cats and are not always suited to a multi-cat household without a lot of consideration like Teddy's owner has done. If you are thinking about getting another pet, please contact us and speak to one of our nurses for further advise.
If you have any questions about your cat behaviour then please contact us and our behaviour nurses can help you.
